90 riders in total made todays race one of the biggest ever turnouts for the Northern Vets at National Boulevard.  This included 24 visitors, including Ray Jarrett down from Wangaratta.

A field of 17 started A grade which would nearly be a record and 20 in B grade was the biggest field.

66 year old Tommy Gray raced A grade and handled himself very well and was only put into real difficulty in the opening lap.  Jason Fowler also did a great deal of work in his first outing in A grade.  Tony Giuliano missed out narrowly on placing with his first ride.  David Holt (Eastern) once again was clearly the strongest in the sprint taking victory from the Stewart brothers.

Marcus Speed earned a spot in A grade with a big win in B grade after a few placing in previous weeks.

C grade was marred by a crash in the sprint with only Eastern rider Bruce Hawker coming to grief, however unfortunately he was taken away in an ambulance with suspected broken collar bone and ribs.

In D grade Ian Buckingham made a return to crit racing in 2010 by taking out victory.

E grade was taken out by new member Peter Smith with a placing 2 weeks ago and looks to be steadily marching up the grades.

F grade was the smallest field of the day of 9 riders and was taken out by a female for the 2nd week in a row with Michelle George following Catherine Camerlengo's example from the last crit. 

It is great to see we are getting more and more females to our racing and we may put on a women's only grade very shortly.  Results are posted on the website.

From 2010 a few new rules will be enforced at all handicap races:

1. No-shows and late entries for Handicap races will be charged $10 and $20 respectively

2. All riders must be at the start line ready to race at least 3 minutes prior to your start or else a 1 (one) minute penalty will be applied to your final finish time.

3. All riders must be within the red cones (left side) at the start line for all riders safety.  If this is not adhered to a $50 fine will be handed to the offending rider or riders at the race referrees discretion.

4. All riders receiving prizes or prize money must be present in person at the presentations or their prizes wil be forfeited.  This includes all scratch races.
